I have been a foundation governor at Our Lady’s since September 2011. In that time I have enjoyed learning more about the school and working as part of a very committed and active governing body.
In my role as governor I’m particularly committed to supporting the school in achieving high standards in all subjects; providing a safe, respectful environment where teachers are enabled to support children of all backgrounds, abilities and talents to realise their full potential; encouraging a happy, creative environment in the classroom and the playground; raising aspirations and nurturing the ambitions of all children at Our Lady’s.
I am a member of the Policy & Curriculum and Personnel committees and I’m the link governor for ICT and Pupil Premium.
On a personal level, I am from Athlone in the Irish midlands. I studied psychology at Trinity College Dublin and have a degree and masters from there. I moved from Dublin to Ellesmere Port 15 years ago when I met my husband who is from Little Sutton. We now have two daughters, both of whom attend Our Lady’s (year 1 and year 4).
Professionally, I work as Digital Communications Manager at Liverpool John Moores University, a university committed to widening access to higher education for all students with ability. I think there’s a nice link between my job and what I can bring to the role of governor.
Since becoming a governor, I have been very impressed with the professionalism and vision of the school’s management team. I think that Our Lady’s is a great school, with wonderful children and committed parents, and I really enjoy being part of the team working alongside Mrs Brickland and the staff on the journey towards achieving ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted status.
